Classic and Newer Rock

Tuesdays and Thursdays 4pm-5pm MST

The Andy Hilton Show will consist of classic rock songs blended in with newer rock and commentary on everything from rock history to girls as well as life in general. My biggest goal with the show will be to bring my audience an appreciation for rock n’ roll and give them positive and funny thoughts about life.

Andy Hilton -
My name is Andy Hilton and I am the man giving you the most rock n’ roll for your day and giving my thoughts for being positive in life. Originally from Crestview, Florida I have eight years experience in radio broadcasting which began in 2002 in Colorado Springs at Pikes Peak Community College. While there I gained extensive experience in board work, on-air work, and television production as well as commercials.

I received my associate of arts degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and studied Mass Communication at the University of Southern Mississippi for nearly three years gaining even more knowledge in radio and television.

In my spare time I love to travel as much as I can and enjoy my favorite hangout the Hard Rock Café which is a place I consider to be my second home. I am a huge hockey fan and a fanatic of the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Lastly, I love girls and hope to have a girlfriend one of these days.

Remember those old nursery rhymes? The Three Little Pigs, your favorite cereal character Toucan Sam, or what about that bear climbing over that mountain. Green Jelly has a barrage of thrash metal that incorporates all of this, and more!

Green Jelly began life as Green Jello in 1981 in Kenmore, New York. The name was chosen due to the band’s poor opinion of that flavor, and they decided that it also appropriately reflected the quality of their music. The band never attempted to be good, deciding instead to “disguise their lack of ability with stupid props,” as their liner notes put it. The group appeared on The Gong Show touting themselves as the world’s worst band, but the real turning point came when they met Gwar in 1988 and learned how to sculpt props and costumes with latex, papier-mache, chicken wire, and couch cushions. They attracted a small, curious following with their bizarre, cartoonish look and wound up signing with Zoo Records as a video-only band. They released a video album called Cereal Killer, using simple, bubblegum metal songs as an excuse to dance around in silly costumes, and the clay-animation video for “Three Little Pigs” became an MTV hit, spawning the release of an EP and later the full soundtrack to the video album. With success came lawsuits for trademark infringement; the band was forced to change their name to Green Jelly and also had to put an edited version of “Cereal Killer” on their audio release, as the cereal companies whose mascots were murdered in the video did not take kindly to it. Band members, who have exceeded 74 in number over the years, perform under aliases such as Marshall Staxx and Jesus Quisp. The band was able to sell records based on their visual weirdness for several years, doing fine up through the mid-’90s. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide (Taken from their myspace page) www.myspace.com/greenjellyandthepigs

Denver local metal that will thrash right through your house. This group has been around for years and will not give up, no matter what happens, so be sure to watch out for their Denver assault.

Formed in February of 2004: HAVOK is the thrash metal powerhouse reigning from Colorado that continues to win over thousands of fans from various parts of the world. Incorporating blisteringly fast guitar riffs, machine-like drumming, groovy bass lines, searing leads, and hard-hitting vocals, HAVOK is able to maintain that *punch-you-in-the-throat* style of music. Although there are many other thrash bands out there, there is one thing that sets HAVOK apart from the others. This band puts their own stamp on the genre by employing a more technical side of music, while maintaining the feel. HAVOK’slive show is where the band really catches peoples’ attention, with their non-stop energy level and their ability to get the audience involved. They are a must-see for any fan of live music! This Denver outfit has had their name compared to the likes of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera, Testament, Overkill, Exodus, Suicidal Tendencies, Motorhead, etc… And for good reason! They possess a distinct approach to thrash: one that emulates the abrasive styles of classic 80s thrash metal, but with a much-needed fresh edge. HAVOK has received tons of positive feedback for their efforts to make thrash a mainstay in modern music: and they will continue to spread the intensity until they decide the job is done! Given their talent, determination, and constantly growing fan base, HAVOK is destined to become a mainstay in this scene!

Originating from Arizona, and now somewhat more scattered, Psychostick is a tight nit group of individuals with one goal, METAL! With several releases, their most recent being Sandwhich, this band has been touring nearly non-stop bringing their Humor Core sound to the underground masses of America. Each track on each album is something new and exciting. Whether it be about Rudolf and his anger towards fellow Reigndeer, or how much doing laundry sucks, you can be sure to leave with a few simple questions in mind. What the hell just happened? Can anything get any more Metal? When will they be playing in my town?! For answers to these questions, and other that you may have, you can find Psychostick on the web at www.myspace.com/psychostick or www.psychostick.com
